          Class Services:

Group training classes are based on science, positive reinforcement, and gentle, no fear methods. We offer the custom needs of each client, as well as the course standards.

Classes are held at Dog Club . Please contact the trainer for class information, not the Dog Club, as we are seperate entities in scheduling and payment. The Dog Club graciously offers retail discounts and a gift bag to enrolled students as well.

Classes are weekends, and host various schedules on demand. The maximum Teacher/Dog ratio per class is 1/6, which nurtures a lot more learning for those small groups, but still enough exposure to challenge.

Please visit the Course Calendar for current class status for a level you are interested in. Dates may change with demand before classes begin.

To register: Contact for a free 20 minute consultation. After contact, you can register with all of the following given (partial does not reserve your space): Policy agreement, Vet records and Payment.

Clients are welcome to visit and observe a standard class free of charge, without a pet, to get insights as to the formats.

Public classes afford many benefits to both pet and owner, at discounted rates from private training. Impulse control, as well as connecting with your pet despite distractions, but in a controlled environment, are fundamental. This is a safe, more controlled environment to learn skills.

All courses offer click (clicker provided) and treat or non click and treat methods, as well as verbal *and* gestured commands. Training can prevent problems, this is an investment into the future. Some minor behavioral problems are accepted in the classroom, others must work privately until they can join. If you have concerns about your dogs behavior, please notify the trainer.

Puppy 101: Click and Treat method: This is a puppy socialization group for the click and treat methods. Basic skills, as well as interactive games will be given focus to. Class is one hour, small, limited groups, lasting 4 consecutive scheduled weeks. Cost is $80.00 Due to the short window of time for this need, clients can enter an open classroom any week, and two classes may be offered in the same day during times of high demand. This is by far the most important class of all, preventatively, in regards to many problems.

Puppy 101 classes cover basic skills, sit, beginning leash walking (getting a great start), potty training Q&A, come, deterrents and redirects instead of punishments, name games (recognition) as well as attention connection games, common behavioral problems such as jumping, chewing and nipping, as well as how to hone your puppies curiosity into confidence with textures, sounds and startling movements in the world they will encounter. Some discussion about how dogs learn, body language, and breed specific education are included.

Puppy classes may be begun at any time, they are a revolving course where each week a specific detail is accounted for. Once you begin a course though, you are given four consecutive weeks of space to attend.

Special Offer:
The Pet Geek offers a special puppy package: For preventing many of the problems faced with a new puppy arrival, the trainer offers a 'Welcome Home Puppy' package. Trainer will meet with you as close to the home arrival as possible, stay 2-3 hours in the home working with many variables of care, connection and safety, a book and accessories are included, and fully paid tuition into group classes at the puppy level is included. The package is for a fixed rate of $200.00, a substantial private rate discount, because any trainer or shelter worker feels the importance of preventative work is paramount to a happy family. If that small window of time before conflicting habits can form are preventative, it is a priceless investment - working from both the home and socially gives the highest benefit.

Beginning obedience course: Obedience is possible for all ages, but sometimes two basic classes are offered during times of high demand, (one for adolescents, one for all ages). The first class is an orientation seminar that pets do not attend please.

The course covers 16 essential skills that are all designed to work towards the ultimate requirements (the best obedience level of obedience skills offered). This is a fast paced class that depends on your practice at home. Each student may choose one Custom game/trick skill as well as the course standards. Class is $120.00 for the 6 week course.

~~~~~~~
Intermediate obedience classes: Pre-requisite beginning obedience needed. Skills taught will include refining beginning skills for speed and focus, distances, impulses and distractions, as well as emergency recall, greeting/reading other dogs, stop and sit cues for attention, and again each student will get one custom class trick, game or cue choice. Each class is $120.00 for the course.
~~~~~~~

Advanced Course: Pre-requisite beginning and intermediate coursework needed, or you can schedule an assessment with the trainer to join if you feel your skills already meet requirements. Advanced coursework is based on the principle of meeting CGC (canine good citizenship) criteria, preparing you and your pet to pass the test curriculum, or simply hone some advanced skills. Each class is $120.00 for the course, and arrangements for testing will be provided for you (I do not test, as this would be a conflict of interest).

Specialty Classes:

Due to frequent requests, certain circumstances call for specialized groups. These classes will range 2 hours each, and are 'one class wonders' oriented, though working with some of the behavioral problems may take multiple sessions. Cost of class is $50.00. Some classes have larger groups as well due to their dynamics, which are benefited by diversity.

Jumping and Nipping Clinic: For dogs of any age who have gotten the habit of engaging you for attention with less than desirable manners, we offer science based solutions that work! If you dog has the habit of mouthing at you, pulling at your pant legs or shirts, scratching or pouncing you for greetings, (examples) this class is for you! We'll help you sort out an entire new way of directing those moments so that you'll soon be greeted with a sit and a wag, being requested for attention, and not demanded upon. Specific games towards impulsiveness as well as new skills structures will be offered.

Shy dog classes/ Too social classes: How to better socialize your animals with people, teaching and reinforcing meeting people in general is great! This class is for dogs who do not show aggression about people, but would rather withdraw peacefully, or urinate with submission. Also, this class is for dogs who are so social, they want every ones attention but their owners! This is a gentle, calm way to direct your pets focus in ways it is currently faltering.

Emergency Recall & Stop on a Dime: A reliable form of ingraining a response when it is critical you are heard! For some common examples, imagine your dog running away from you towards traffic, or already across the street and running towards you into traffic! This class requires a 30ft long lead (which you will be using for practice at home and elsewhere). This method saves lives when practiced at home and in differing environments until it is well ingrained. You will be literally altering your dogs brain chemistry to your, and it's, benefit for safety. Class is limited to 4 dogs.

Leash anxiety: For those canines who lunge, bark, and basically have a tiff about other dogs nearby when on the leash, but can still be physically controlled at your side. Since these pets can be disruptive to many varying degrees in the standard classroom, but need this skill managed in a group setting (around other dogs) so that it may attend more in depth training. Skills are deterrents that reduce anxiety, focusing, redirecting, and helping them integrate with other dogs with a curious, non-reactive disposition. Class is limited to 4 dogs..

Heeling Crash Course: For those dogs who are 'stubbornly' not walking with you, working to make the experience shared and pleasant, not a exercise in frustration. Whether they lag reluctantly, pull tenaciously, or want nothing to do with you in the process of a walk or hike. This course works on proper body alignment, sitting when you have come to a long term stop, standing patiently when you simply pause (and the difference between them), and focusing the dog to you when you need it but also release cues to give it time to sniff about and 'read the news' of the environment around it. Also included is greeting manners with other dogs or people, and structuring impulses gently.
